Eye Surgeons of Indiana recently acquired a Cirrus HD-OCT, manufactured by Carl Zeiss Meditec. This state-of-the-art technology helps doctors to detect and manage conditions of the retina, including macular degeneration, and optic nerve. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is an imaging method that uses light rays to scan structures in the back of the eye. Detailed, real-time information about the structure of the living eye can be obtained in just a few seconds. Subtle changes that may not be visible with clinical examination may be detected with OCT. This aids in the early diagnosis of a number of serious eye diseases, potentially providing better long-term outcomes for many patients.
